Government evils existed in the world over centuries, and
still existing today. In Canada hundreds of thousands of innocent children were
forever silenced, their lives are cut short and their promising futures
annihilated. We must never forget,
for "those Whose Lives Were destroyed, also by Those That Have to suffer
for the rest of Their Lives.” The past are condemned to repeat it.

Improving lives of black children in care
Re Children aid. Time is right to take action. Editorial

I feel important to provide some further to the editorial of
Oct. 3.
It is important to note that the children’s Aid Society of
Toronto (CAST) was the first welfare organization in Ontario to publish its
race data. Over the past several years, CAST has been working very closely with
the black African Caribbean communities to find solutions to the
overrepresentation of black children and youth in care and has recently added a
director-level position to manager our diversity agenda.
As an organization, and along with is communities partners,
CAST remains committed to resolve issues of
overrepresentation, racism and social issues that unfortunately affect
people of color. While the provincial government needs to provide further
investments, it is incumbent upon community leaders to continue to work
together to ameliorate the lives of children and their families. Together, we
can build a city were children are safe, families are strong and communities
are supported.
In the near future CAST will provide the community with a
report card on its progress in addressing these issues.
