Plangent Syndrome

Pain does not come out just crying.

In the logic of any transformation, it is an obligatory step to disagree, to protest. By ascending its phases of development towards practice, every process tends to change under the tension of the dialectic that no longer allows the former to remain standing while the nascent does not finish incorporating. And it is of such magnitude and dynamic complexity such a process that occurs permanently in everything we see and live, in the particular and in the collective. It is life itself.

This permanent swarm of transitions occurs with music that we once liked and now not so much; it happens with meals, with human relationships, with clothes, with affections and with thoughts. Nothing stops. Although the conservatives cry. Some have even founded “philosophical” currents to oppose the “changes”, they have invented religions and also sects. They have devised tricks and ambushes to deceive the "still" and have sponsored political movements specialized in producing fallacious "changes" ... so that nothing changes. Some recognize themselves as reformists or "leopards."

At some point lament became fashionable as the ultimate goal. It was used as a substitute for action, as a sufficient act that guarantees the immutability of things. Left and right, began a fashion (or pose) based on complaining, denouncing, criticizing and shouting nonconformities of everything and everything. Even the cult of protest began to look very “progressive”. There was a “protest song”, theater, cinema, dance and countless expressions that passed through reality, bothering the bourgeois tranquility and also conservatism, which, in turn, never abandoned its own form of protest against changes. Protesting, in more than one case, also became a commodity. Very profitable.

Complaints, here and there, proliferated in the heat of an ideological ambush that managed to organize massive acts of protest that then sent the masses "home", already relaxed after the catharsis of their disagreement reduced to only shouts. There are even laws and regulations that the bourgeois states developed to "prosecute" the protests as a civil "right" that accompanies "Freedom of Expression" and as a form of citizen "power" that must be expressed civilly! in the legal-political limits of the system. Everything ready for the complaint to be institutionalized and serve as an analgesic for your own pain.

Under capitalism, protest is metabolized conservatively. It is professionalized, legalized and disseminated in the mass media. Salary, urban, ethical or moral complaints. Everything enters the realm of protest as long as it does not become a transforming force. The thresholds between a qualitative-quantitative leap are jealously guarded by ideological hounds and conservatism policemen. And riot cars. There are antidotes to dissuade those who complain from wanting to turn their disagreements into revolutions. Especially those complaints that cannot be turned into business. Repression is simply called. Especially against the forms of complaint, or organized social protest, which have developed a plan that does not drown in the tears of mourners and that ascends as a struggle based on the economic and intellectual emancipation of the peoples. That ceases to be a complaint held by the system to become an uprising. According to them and they take their dogs to the streets.

It is still true that there are healthy rebel initiatives, of social origin legitimized by consensus and struggle, that drag the vices or splinters of the daily ideological shrapnel in our bodies, our heads and our hearts. It is still true that many good movements stagnate in permanent tears and fail to make the leap in organizational quality that reality demands. They come and go, many magnificent fighters and leaders, loaded with their bitterness, from one side to the other, without managing to get out of the plaintive trap that makes organization impossible and intoxicates dialogue. There are very severe cases.

There is no shortage of opportunists who navigate, entire lives, in the waters of other people's tears. They are skilful captains piloting ocean liners of diverse bureaucracies that bear by name or emblem a battle, a tragedy or an appellation taken from social suffering. Symbolic usurpation turned into business. Lenin proposed the question What to do? and the entire sequence of responses that have emerged from him and from thousands are not yet enough to build, in practice, the great organized human movement that allows us to defeat all the calamities that suffocate us. Turn tears into tasks, complaints into actions, and excuses into mobilizations. As long as the inventory of excuses is greater than that of struggles, we will continue to work for conservatism. We will pay guarantees of survival to capitalism.

Marx gave a clue that focuses on the last word of the manifesto written with Engels: unite. And perhaps a good first task to get out of toxic plañiderismo would be to organize ourselves. That is, to put organizational work as the first order agenda in any fight agenda and, therefore, to be driven from the protests, not to stay in them, to move towards desirable, possible and achievable programs. As stated by Sánchez Vázquez. Be oriented towards the organization but not the organization of islands but the organization of organizations with a program of unity ... not of uniformity.

If we could obtain a summary of everything learned in the jaws of complaining, we would surely rescue thousands of very specific and valuable humanist contributions but, precisely, due to their value and abundance, it is unfair not to know how to take advantage of them to move to action planned by consensus ... and it is It is unfair not to be able to objectively conduct the transition phase with a transition program in permanent struggle. Return the dialectic to hardships so that they flourish in combat. Respect the right to its stages including the right to overcome them. Heal hardships with the dialectic of struggles and ascend to the achievable.
