Is it time to dissolve the OAS? Dictatorship in Bolivia

Is it time to dissolve the OAS? Dictatorship in Bolivia

The OAS (Organization of American States) was created on April 30, 1948 in Bogotá, at the request of the US Department of State.

Its objective was to consolidate its full dominance in the American continent, preventing any government that defies its control from the possibility of social and political success. That was the essence of its construction and still has that goal.

Its history is pathetic because, except for some moments where sovereign nations could defend themselves, this “hemispheric cooperation” entity sponsored coups and interventions in Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Chile, Honduras, among many other countries, becoming in an accomplice institution of the US and reactionary intelligence agencies in Latin America, without even questioning the School of the Americas, organ of preparation of subversive military actions and torture center for patriotic dissidents.

The case of Bolivia is so evident in the felony incurred by the OAS in covering up that the commanders of the Bolivian Army and Police, trained in the aforementioned School and the FBI, helped plan the coup and guaranteed its success. Experts who integrated commissions to study the elections pointed out the political management of the OAS audit report in Bolivia, especially when taking provisional scrutiny, which has no legal validity, and not the final one.

In Bolivia there is no power vacuum. This is largely owned by the United States through its undercover agents, American countries submissive to the US government, the military police forces and the elites of that nation, all in a large unit promoted by the OAS, master of the coup d'etat. The post Evo repression, which has more than 30 murders with thousands of wounded and detained, shows the true face of the de facto government.

The other situation is the correlation of forces that can change the current situation because the Senate and Chamber, led by people aware of the MAS (Movement to Socialism), together with the mobilized sectors of the working classes and international pressure, could reverse what happened by creating a sovereign, indigenist, plurinational, culturally integrated and equity or social justice option that overcomes neocolonial foreign infiltration.

Regarding this situation, unalterable conclusions ratify the role of the OAS as the architect of the repression: all studies confirm the falsity of the OAS on an alleged electoral fraud in Bolivia aggravated by the misleading and fallacious report made directly by Almagro, with the absolute support from the countries of the Lima Group (1), advancing three days in order to alert Mesa and Camacho that no second round or new election should be accepted, but dismissal since the business of acceptance by the Commanders had been finalized of Police and Army that approved the coup. The OAS did not question the violence prior to the bloody action by the Armed Forces and similarly to Guaidó, the self-proclaimed president of Venezuela, Jeanine Añez, did so without elections, supported by the lack of objective means of information preventing local reporting and Internationally the tragedy. It should be noted that the collusion was not only from the USA. with the Lima-OAS Cartel, but with the European Union because Federica Mogherini, representative of the EU's foreign policy, quickly supported the appointment of Añez as interim president and President Trump moved forward confirming it. In addition, the same activists denounced that according to Twitter, in just three days more than 4492 accounts with coup propaganda were created. It should be noted that Almagro, acting as an employee of the United States Department of State, changed the date of the next election in February to March 20, hoping that the new president of Uruguay will not be from the Frente Amplio which expelled him from his ranks.

The OAS in Bolivia: A Tool for US Imperialism

From the protection of the OAS to this new coup d'etat (2), four possibilities that sovereign governments in America have in relation to this US Colonial Ministry are prospected.

One, that the truly democratic and popular resistance members withdraw from this submissive and obedient organization to the orders emanating from the Pentagon, because it makes no sense to belong to this delicate union characterized by supporting dictatorships and repressive governments.

Two, a restructuring where the US leaves from its bosom, including Canada, leaving Latin America to discuss its own problems alone and never accept anti-sovereignty.

Three, all remain there in compliance with what the USA says, although with discursive and inefficient opposition from sovereign nations.

Four, dissolve it and form or be part of really sovereign organizations that provide social justice service.

The final reflection should be to study in depth the manipulation of the new elections by the Electoral Tribunal and the internal handling of the vote, as well as knowing what secret commitments the police chief and the army general commander with the United States arrived to support the blow against Evo Morales. The crime of fraud did not exist, but the usurpation of functions is evident. I hope that the strong rejection of the IACHR to this “police massacre” of the protesters who support former President Evo Morales has some Western support, since it is not of these orientations to work for social justice. The fate of the people remains to be seen in the face of the cruelty of the inquisitors.

(1) The document entitled “Evidence against fraudulent votes has been decisive in the election of Bolivia in 2019”, concluded that alleged statistical irregularities were recorded in 274 of the 34,551 polling stations, which is not much different from other employers seen in elections in Honduras, Turkey, Russia, Austria and Wisconsin. Through his Twitter account, Argentine scientist Rodrigo Quiroga concluded that "neither the OAS nor anyone could confirm that there was fraud in the elections of October 20".
