The Biden government cages for migrant children

Migrant children in the United States

By Renán Vega Cantor: From the cages of the border guard (Trump) to the cages of the Pentagon (Biden). The images are chilling and tear the soul: two Ecuadorian girls, three and five years old respectively, are thrown from a height of four meters by the Wall of Infamy of the United States; a 9-year-old Mexican boy drowned while trying to cross the Rio Grande to enter the United States; a Nicaraguan boy cries disconsolate, saying that he has been abandoned in the desert of the United States; thousands of children are caged like animals in the “most civilized and democratic country in the world”.

The liberal cultists of the "good-natured" Joe Biden argue that this was what happened in the days of the malevolent Donald Trump, but that now we are facing a new immigration policy of the Democratic Party government. But it is not like that, the scenes of suffering and abuse of children are from today and are being carried out by the Biden administration

In the cages where children are locked up, all kinds of crimes are committed, starting with the separation of parents and children, overcrowding, mistreatment, bad nutrition, sanitary abandonment (and this in times of coronavirus is a death penalty), beds sexual abuse and violence.

It is often said that children are the future of the world and what happens to children in the United States indicates a dark future: prisons, torture, repression, rape, racism, pain and death.

There are children who have been caged for months by the United States government, such is the case of a nine-year-old Salvadoran girl who in February of this year completed 531 days detained in a cage of the "American democracy", where she has spent two Christmas. At the end of the previous year, there were 28 children with more than 500 days imprisoned in the "country of freedom." Among the caged children there are babies less than one year old, as a demonstration that in that "paradise of freedom" and "democracy" there is no discrimination neither by age nor by sex, because all the poor are punished equally, even if they are in diapers.

Why do children who march unaccompanied by an adult, not even their parents, try to enter? This is the result of an apparently humanitarian policy by Biden, but one that is terribly criminal: since children who enter the United States are now not deported, this has generated the expectation and the risk of sending children alone and helpless. For the desperate migrant, it does not matter that his children end up in cages as long as they caress the "American dream." They assume that, once their child is admitted, they will later be taken in, or that the children may be welcomed by a friend or relative who is already installed - often without a residence permit - in the United States. It does not matter that this may mean a lifelong separation, and the children are left without parents, and never meet their parents again. For this reason, the children who manage to enter the United States carry pieces of paper on which they have written down a telephone number of a relative, waiting for them to come to look for it. It is like a kind of passport of despair towards the unknown, because it is frequent that nobody comes to claim the child.

Meanwhile, Biden and his officials tell the migrants not to try to go to the United States, that its borders are still closed, that they misunderstood him, because he never said he was going to allow poor foreigners to enter.

As if to realize that nothing has changed in immigration policy in the Biden government, the cages in which the children are not dismantled are still in operation. As a big thing, Biden has announced that now the cages are going to change places and administrators: it will no longer be the private capitalists, who profit from childhood pain and run cross-border cages, who “take care” of the children. Now that work is transferred to the Pentagon, with vast experience in child rape, murder, mistreatment and torture throughout the world.

In the last four years, thousands of complaints of sexual harassment and abuse of migrant minors have been received in shelters funded by the US government, including dozens of accusations against employees, according to official data released Tuesday.

Biden's immigration “big change” is that abandoned children are not expelled directly to Mexico or their country of origin, but are now being caged in the dungeons of the Pentagon. This is like telling someone to choose the way they are going to kill him: whether by hanging or in the electric chair, that's what Made in the USA democracy is all about.

What can be expected from the Pentagon bases, if there the children are going to be at the mercy of the military with a history of disrespect for rights, sexual violations of minors, and absolute impunity, as we already know in Colombia, due to the disastrous experience of Tolemaida . How to verify the treatment of children, if entering a base is almost impossible and the military is not accountable to anyone.

Sending them to the Pentagon cages has another symbolic meaning, that of cataloging children as potential criminals who should be imprisoned on military bases, since they represent a potential danger to the national security of the United States.

To realize the continuity in the anti-immigrant policy of the new United States government with respect to that of its predecessor, it is enough to remember that Trump's order to expel immigrants who had just entered the United States is maintained to avoid contagion of covid-19. The only modification is that the children are now left in the cages, without the company of their parents.

Note the great paradox of the "country of freedom", which always proclaimed that communists want to steal children from their families. This infundy is made a reality by the United States, where a state brutally snatches their parents' children, expels them, and confines the children in cages, as if they were wild animals in captivity. Joe Biden promised to end the "cruelty" of Trump-era immigration policies in the middle of the election campaign, although he should have said he was going to refine that cruelty. In short, the great migration change in the United States in the Biden era is that children are moved from one cage to another.
