The human emptiness: from the happy robot to the systemic operator
You Have The Power Over Your Mind
Marcos Roitman Rosenmann: The human of the human being has frozen. The pandemic shows the fragility of our stocks. It is not typical of the species to spend weeks or months confined in a closed space, often claustrophobic. The causes are diverse, but always due to human intervention. In 2010, due to a lack of security investments, 33 miners were trapped for 69 days at the San José mine in Chile. Their stories are significant. Forge morale, avoid arguments, ration food. It was an extraordinary situation in extreme conditions. In semi-darkness, with a tainted air, hundreds of meters deep, they had to cooperate, unite and wait for a rescue. Live to be released. But in 2020, a political decision in the face of a crisis produced by savage capitalism, a mixture of opulence and extreme poverty, induced hunger and food speculation, global warming, extractivism and contamination, called us to an urgent confinement.
The ruling classes and their organizations are responsible for the collapse not only of health, but of dehumanization. His ambitions, follies, and competitive selfishness, in the name of the market economy, have manipulated nature. Zoonotic diseases spread. The Covid-19 turns the world upside down. The way out, freeze the human. The message: social life is postponed until further notice. No one enters or leaves, a fence to mobility. Anxiety, fear, loss of referrals, stress, depression, autolytic behaviors are some symptoms derived from unwanted isolation and an abruptly paralyzed socialization. Social nature forces us to expand the world. Hugs, kisses, handshakes, games, celebrations define the culture, including the ritual of death. Watching over the deceased, mourning, burial, were suspended. It has not been possible to socialize pain and grief. Life online is an excrescence.
No matter where, human societies rest on physical contact. Sexual reproduction is a demonstration of what has been said. The anthropobiology of social being is expansive. Language, communication, feelings, emotions and gestures are a starting point, not an arrival. The human is not linear. However, digital utopia, an updated version of the idea of progress, has ended up altering the concept of human existence. It is the world that Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos and their acolytes bring to hand. The Silicon Valley dream, centered around the ideology of artificial intelligence. The human being as a systemic operator, executor of a world that does not belong to him. Not just individuals, but a pixel sum for identification and control. Eric Sadin in his essay The Silicolonization of the World. The irresistible expansion of digital liberalism points out: “Another kind of alterity is established that does nothing but respond to our supposed desires and needs, and that is dedicated to supporting us, guiding us, entertaining us or comforting us. […] It is an alterity of a new type, without a face and without a body, which is removed from all conflict and which is only dedicated to offering us "the best" at every moment.
Emerging Artificial Intelligence and Machine
Making the world a better and happier place is the motto that presides over businesses in Silicon Valley. The goal: to dwarf the human and to increase artificial intelligence. Take away the power to think. A world of applications that make life more comfortable and bearable. Again Sadin: “It is not the extinction of the human race that establishes the silicone worldview but, more precisely and much more maliciously, the eradication of the human figure. It is the 'death of man', that of the 21st century, […] which, for its own good and that of humanity as a whole, must now shed its historical prerogatives in order to delegate them to systems more apt otherwise to perfectly order the world and guarantee him a life free of his imperfections ”. The neocortical war has its headquarters in Silicon Valley. Russian General Valery Gerasimov drew attention to this reality: “In the 21st century we have seen a tendency to blur the lines between states of war and peace. Wars are no longer declared. ” Military strategy moves to control emotions, desires, feelings. You need the data captured by computer companies, Facebook, without going any further. Trolls, false news and real-time manipulation are the weapons of this war.
Éric Sadin alerts us in his essay The increased humanity. The digital administration of the world: “The modern concept of humanity understood as its own, transhistorical, evolutionary set and a priori free of its destiny, has been broken for the benefit of the emergence of a synthetic organic compound that rejects in fine any sovereign and autonomous dimension […] An algorithmic governmentality emerges, and not only that which allows political action to be determined based on an infinity of statistics and projective inferences, but even that which 'secretly' governs numerous collective and individual situations. It is the indefinitely adjusted form of an electrónica electronic administration ’of life, whose protection, optimization intentions depend in fact on an undeclared, impersonal, expansive and structuring political project”. Sadin goes further, turning to Steven Spielberg to shore up his theses: "Human beings have created a million explanations of the meaning of life, in art, in poetry, in mathematical formulas. Certainly, human beings must be the key to the meaning of existence, but human beings no longer exist. " It is time to face this war and reverse the dynamic where we go from being happy robots to systemic operators.
