The double rod of the hegemonic media

Illegal espionage: When hiding is lying
By Washington Uranga: In journalism, hiding or shredding information is an exercise in manipulating audiences with the aim of restricting their freedom and leading to error. Therefore, it amounts to lying. It is different in other orders of life or disciplines, where hiding certain information or part of it can be a way of self-defense or even an act of generous benevolence.

In the matter of communication, it is not admissible, then, that the same media that once doubled bells, gave first fruits and were installed with their cameras in places where they would later be detained and equipped in a humiliating way, with helmets and bulletproof vests, people linked to governments that Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández headed, now keep silent or hide the information on judicial processes that, supported by a cascade of evidence, reveal illegal espionage activities orchestrated by Macrism. Today it was even more evident in the face of the scandalous series of arrests.

That it is not admissible - from the ethical journalistic and democratic point of view - does not mean that it is not expected that they now hide information, the same system of hegemonic media, the same media and journalists that previously lied and that when their falsehoods were defeated by the The truth -also in judicial instances- they never assumed the mistake made, they did not retract and, much less, they apologized for the damage caused.

MEDIA MANIPULATION
One of the basic principles of journalism should always be in a position to correct, clarify or rectify based on the facts. For journalists, the word truth means fidelity to the facts reported. And there is no truth either when it is oversized or when it is hidden. There is no truth when audiences are deprived of enough information to make their own determinations, to decide freely. The half or cut information is not true. It is manipulation. The truth of the facts is undeniable and does not admit discussion. Instead, opinions belong to each person and are to be debated.

Those who previously lied - and never denied - supported by the same logic and with the same purposes, today silence and hide. They are the same people who fill their mouths with the freedom of expression that they have and that they use in such an abusive and unscrupulous way that they end up denaturing it. Because it is not legitimate to use the freedom that democracy provides to cause damage, not only to the journalistic profession and to communication in general, but to attack democracy as a system.
