Fear as an instrument of power

Aram Aharonian: As soon as we are born they instil us with fear: the mantra of religions is precisely to frighten us in this world, marking our behavior and limiting our enjoyment, to make merits and be able to enjoy all that (or other things, I don't know, eternally), in the other, after death. Without more threats, without more fears?

In other words, life on Earth would be just an admission test and if we do not behave well according to the rules and regulations of the religion that we choose or impose on us, there will be no second half. That is primary, first-generation terrorism, says the communicologist Álvaro Verzi. Secondary terrorism would be the threat of climate change, famine, greenhouse gases, nuclear war.

The list of sacred books is huge, all possessors of the unique truth: Bible, Koran, Torah, Talmud, TLT ¡La Tele Tuya!'s tweet - "The list of sacred books is enormous, all, according to each religion, are possessors of the only truth: Bible, Koran, Torah, Talmud, Upanishad, Vedas, Canons of Buddhism, Upanishad, Vedas, Canons of Buddhism, Book of Mormon, Tipitaka, Rig Veda, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita, Kojiki, Zend Avesta, Guru Granth Sahib… But we cannot forget that with or without books, tablets or engraved rocks, our indigenous people also had their religions, even when they worshiped other gods

There are dozens and dozens of books about fear, but I am afraid to read them and that is why I go to the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy, which tells us that fear is “anxiety due to a real or imaginary risk or harm. Fear is an unpleasant emotion that is provoked by the perception of danger, real or supposed, present, future or even past.

It is a primary emotion that stems from natural aversion to risk or threat, and is manifested in all animals, including humans. The ultimate expression of fear is terror. Also, experts say, fear is related to anxiety.

Currently there are two different concepts about fear, which correspond to the two great psychological theories that we have: behaviorism and depth psychology. According to behavioral thinking, fear is learned. In the depth psychology model, the existing fear corresponds to an unconscious and unresolved basic conflict (the fear of dying, the survival instinct), to which it refers.

André Delumeau believes that we need to listen to our fears: they are a wonderful alarm system to face dangers. But we must not submit to them: sometimes that mechanism breaks down. As if it were some kind of allergy, the fear is triggered and becomes a phobia, he adds.

Threat, fear, retaliation in the name of greater good, has been the form of domination on Earth. And it still is, because when the verse of freedom and democracy no longer works while people are massacred, the octogenarian “Democratic” president of the United States is given to threatening us that if we do not behave well, atomic war may come. And bye Earth. Including Joe Biden, of course.

But we all know that political fear is an instrument of power and leaders use real or potential threats to ensure social control. Fear is never exhausted as a power device, since human beings need the security of not feeling at risk.

It scared me to discover that there are other people who say that there is nothing more effective than subjecting society to a state of permanent fear in order to easily lead it to the "sanctuaries" that the system itself offers them as a refuge, which is ultimately to retreat into their homes to silently brood over their fears, without going out to protest or demonstrate to avoid calamities.

Families of Canada hand over your children now or we will be force to take them from you.

May be a cartoon of text that says 'FAMILIES OF CANADA... HAND OVER OVERYOUR CHILDREN NOW OR WE WILL BE FORCED το TAKE THEM FROM YOU! POLICE RELEASE THE BEAST! children's Atd gociety'

RELEASE THE BEASTS NOW!

We call the attention of the public to put an end to acts of domestic terrorism, the image shows the horrors that children and parents suffer when they are transported through winding roads to hell. We will never forget their brutal screams, derisive laughter, and the way they enjoy humiliating us into the world of destruction.

And then the homophobic seek escapist entertainment on television or videos, movies or literature of mass consumption, while swallowing without digesting what the media say that announces new fears that lie in wait for the local, regional, national population and everywhere. what not worldwide, and they sell the shelter of certain temples of salvation.

Regarding fear in politics, Machiavelli advised the Prince that it is better to be feared than loved; Hobbes pointed to fear and the rule of law as part of social welfare; Montesquieu associated fear with despotism; Tocqueville pointed out anxiety as a psychic manifestation of the masses; and Hanna Arendt spoke of the terror that seeks to destroy the human condition

Religion Fear of death? - ElMonoDarwin 🐵 - YouTube Religion and fear are combined creating different forms, some social, others individual, marking endings or advancing their prelude, exploiting that human mechanism that is anguish, anxiety, fear that, at the same time that makes us suffer, alerts us to the outside.

Fear is epidemic, it itches and spreads. Fear of the new, fear of what is different, fear of climate change... Many get together through chats on social networks and share their fears, so as not to feel cornered only by their own fears but by those of the rest of the circle with a positive effect. exponentially scary.

Each one has the possibility of having their own fear, which they display even with pride, because they know that fear is what allows them to live and is part of the Order of Veneration of Fear, broader but as fearsome as Opus Dei. Fear of one's own and propagate it in a democratic effort so that fear becomes generalized: there will be fear for everyone.

This is what the philosopher Martha Nussbaum calls The Monarchy of Fear, the journalist Naomi Klein the capitalism of disaster and its doctrine of shock, the sociologist and philosopher Heinz Bude the society of fear, the essayist Bernat Castany Prado the philosophy of fear, the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman liquid fear, and psychiatrist Enrique González Duro writes a biography of fear, says Philip Potdevin.

 The media and fear

The media became denatured, abandoned their informative function and became part of the machinery of the exercise of power, where their role as a disorderly axis of collective subjectivities sows anguish, fear and terror, and criminalizes the popular actions of emerging citizens.

. The programs and language (written, visual and oral) of the media are designed to produce fear -and at the same time dislodge any hope- and build in the social imaginary the idea of a hidden enemy that violates personal security and puts at risk family heritage, hence anguish, fear and fear are three scenarios that articulate the new strategy of power groups -including the State- to be present in the collective subconscious of citizens.

Among the first American television series we remember the heroic Black Hawks, brave American pilots who fought the ugly Koreans, and the pseudo-humorous Mash, which made us believe that war was a pleasant place. Since before the Vietnam War, the media has replaced oral or written discourse with images whose impact is greater because they are recorded in the mind. MASH (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They cause uncertainty with fear and fear that are specific responses to an internal or external threat perceived by the subject in a perennial way and become a chronic effect when perceived as a permanent state in daily life, not only of those directly affected but by those who coexist and are part of the social segment where the subject is registered.

During the cold war, we were heated with fear and fear of the oil-producing countries, the Shiites and especially the communists, who ate children, while the United States continued to intervene throughout the world: it carried out some 400 interventions military to date and about a hundred since the fall of the Berlin wall. An investigation by the Military Intervention Project of Tufts University indicates that 34 percent of them were against countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Before they frightened us with the Nazi goose step, and then progress was made with the pandemics of disinformation about pandemics and about everything that happens in the world, from which they even made an economic profit through movies, television series, soap operas. , where the "little boys", the good ones, are CIA agents, murderers, bloodthirsty... as Wikileaks demonstrated with the case of the immoral torture in Abu Ghibran. But in the name of freedom and democracy, of course.

But today, the media subtly largely replaces the coercive agent and prioritizes ideological repression in this new version of Low Intensity Warfare, where we all feel threatened without being part of the problems they report.

Iraq: photos of an invasion - BBC News World More than 31 years ago, in 1991, the history of information changed definitively, since the journalist Peter Arnett broadcast live and direct – and for 2.2 billion people around the world – what we believed was the Gulf War or the bombing of the “allies” in Baghdad. Since then, the scope of the new means of communication and the use they intended to make of them became clear to all: disseminators of the unique message and images.

The news, censored by the Pentagon, became a spectacle; a spectacle put together in such a way that it could interest two billion people, leaving the feeling of a fait accompli and a warning to all those who dared to discuss or contradict the manipulations of imperial power. And when the marines arrived in Somalia, CNN was waiting for the soldiers...

The decision of the Government of George W. Bush to establish an indefinite war against "terrorism", after the attack of September 11, 2001 to the so -called New York Twin Towers, served as a lever to ensure that American public opinion would accept The equation of more security in exchange for cuts in freedom and consecrated civil rights

The American national security doctrine adopted nine days defines the current strategy with which the pretrial war law is attributed anywhere in the world. And the Patriot Act emerged, arsenal of liberticidal provisions that was approved in block under the pretext of the fight against terrorism, exceptional measures that remain in force. This concept establishes that only a sovereign nation will prevail and that the others - together with international law - will have to subordinate itself to such design: any action or opinion, adverse to the US is likely to be considered terrorist.

The lie of the United States as a gun, with its horror stories to impose fear, hatred of the other, war violence, it is still disseminated three decades later by the corporate and posterized western media, which increases crises for crises for Increase their tune and, therefore, their advertising resources, while their armies destroy communities, lives and dreams, to keep their resources.

We can continue talking about fear, its history, its methods, its ends ... but I am afraid that the editor seems too long to publish these disquisitions to publish them. When I get an attack of optimism or courage, I will return for more fear.
