Television insensitivity
Antonio Lorca Siero: This current ritual in television, dedicated to hurting the viewer's sensitivity with unpleasant images used on the occasion of the pandemic, could be understood as the continuation of the usual practice of worshiping bloody scenarios, centered on projections of shootings, crimes, slaughterings and matters of greater depth, with the aim of winning over a certain type of audience.
However, to alleviate such tension and so much routine, from time to time, the practice of collective mindlessness is followed with corralillo gossip, pre-made comics or programming without content, where the only attractive thing is the advertisements, that is, that so reiterated space when the long-suffering viewer changes the channel to find the same thing. The material offered is based on repetitions and more repetitions, copies or bad adaptations, because the native original contributions would be much better to discard and spend the money on fireworks to excite children. It should be added that, between so much empty and crushed product, it is sometimes possible to come across something usable, almost always of foreign invoice. Lacking wit of its own, the television medium always looks both ways to see what it can copy at low cost. Imitating other people's material, some are put on their feet to make them look the same, others are laid back while they taste aperitifs and some join the group of members of the entertainment service, to display their supposed communication skills. Nothing at all, so the product is undoubtedly designed with the aim of becoming closer to the viewer and gaining followers, taking into account the economic guideline, although the personal interest of whoever ultimately manages the business attending to their needs always prevails over it. particular purposes.
The prevalence of the hurtful arsenal that enters through the retina, not only affects sensitivity, spirit and common sense, it is the final act of an exhausted television system given over to intellectual decay that seeks to save money, either because it is hostage of a staff overflowing in number and contributes very little or must attend to personal commitments in high places or is too linked to the friends of the union, in this case, trying to make them influencers when they are only broken toys. Despite the widespread mess, the audience of the television turned on and nodding off their chair is loyal to them and until now they have been barely saving their finances from those in the field of marketing, bent on the old belief that whoever does not advertise in television does not sell. Actually, this television of the poor cannot be demanded much more, because there is no need to pay, although paying one reaches the same point. It is the obligatory tribute paid in terms of publicity in exchange for very little entertainment. There remains the resource of propaganda and there is the doctrine of the one in charge, ready to infiltrate the collective mind, so that it thinks and acts according to the official mandate. Now it's time to make the audience aware of the evils caused by the virus and how bad some people can be. As indoctrination seems to be that better reaches understanding with the example, surely that is why this process of visual sensitizing insensitivity that floats in the environment is used.
In other times, the television media, as more significant in the media for the general public, labeled as advancement of some news more or less hard on the eyes that they could hurt the sensitivity of the viewer. Today, even images that could be interpreted as aggressive to the sensitivity of an average viewer are served on the same plate as any other, that is, without prior warning and without regard. We find that times have radically changed or, it could be, that there is a lack of consideration for the viewer. It is probably the former, and people, accustomed to capturing images of various conditions in the many media that swarm the market, it turns out that it is not that they lack sensitivity, but that they no longer feel impressed by anything. Hence, preventive messages are in effect and there is savings in labeling work.
Taking advantage of the situation, such media have embraced the false principle of social insensitivity for convenience, considering that perhaps the images are no longer hurtful to onlookers, and in this way they are cruel without the slightest consideration to the long-suffering viewer with unpleasant images and repetitive, in case with this modality they sensitize you according to the dominant interests. It also influences that pounding and pounding using the same scenes mercilessly over and over again, is economically profitable for the medium. And so it turns out that if until recently the scenes of sticking toothpicks through the nose or mouth of everyone who lent themselves to the operation predominated, now the central axis of the matter has been diverted to the issue of injections. As has become fashionable, a very high percentage of informative images revolve around chopsticks and pricks, either alternating both practices or imposing a monographic number of that kind exercise of flagging people, which someone can remind the bullfighting thing. Days pass and it has grown, taking advantage of the rabid news of the pandemic. The television viewer has to suffer resignedly and at every step of those spaces that are usually called informational the disastrous images of instruments wounding delicate parts of their congeners, needles stuck in the flesh, terminally ill patients, dead on stretchers, coffins in a reminder plan for the immediate future or live and direct burials, probably so that the images serve as a call to caution, but without the slightest prior warning, even if they could hurt or not hurt their sensitivity.
In the end, it would be helpful if, after the daily battle, at least the so-called informative ones, there was a pause in the fight to offer more relaxing images, so that the sensitive viewer can recover, breathe deeply and feel relieved from so much tension. media aimed at raising public awareness about the pandemic.
